Northern Rockies Outfitters, Ltd. is owned and operated by Rich Birdsell.

Upon graduating with from the University of Montana in 1990, Rich made the fateful decision to spend a summer near Glacier National Park.  It was here that his love of fishing and hunting flourished into a business.

Rich started his guiding career in 1991 when he was hired by Glacier Raft Company in West Glacier, MT.  He spent the next several summers guiding fly fishing trips, whitewater float trips, Bob Marshall wilderness horseback pack trips and fall hunting trips.

Northern Rockies Outfitters was created in 1995.  Rich’s home waters were the Flathead River and the Clark Fork.  He now spends many days on the Blackfoot River, Missouri River and the Big Hole.

Besides the fishing and hunting guiding, he also is a host for Trout TV  television series.

Rich is a board member of the Montana Outfitters and Guides Association (MOGA), is an active member of Boone and Crockett club, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the Mule Deer Foundation.

Rich is also an enrolled member of the Fort Belknap Indian nation.  He has two children, daughter Madison (22) and son Jackson (19). They make their home on the Flathead River, just outside of Kalispell, Montana.
