Lots of snow means healthy rivers!

This winter delivered us the snowpack needed to provide our Flathead River with plenty of clean, cold water that should last us the season. Our cutthroat, rainbow and bull trout populations need this to thrive. We are currently sitting at 95% of normal for snowpack.

We expect a good fishing season and dates are filing up fast. If interested in booking a fishing trip with us do not hesitate to call or email Rich Birdsell to book your dates.

DEER:  Our deer hunting was outstanding as usual, with many good mature bucks around.  The weather this year was the worst we have had in 20 years.  It limited what we could do and where we could hunt.  There are good hunting areas on the ranch that we were inaccessible.  We take only a few trophy bucks and spots are in high demand.    We do offer a high quality management deer hunt where we target big old bucks.  I allow a cow elk to be taken on this hunt also.  Please call or email for details and availability.

ARCHERY ELK:  This season was a good.  Shot opportunities were 90%.  Some big bulls escaped, but we did manage to kill 4 nice bulls out of 10 hunters.  We hosted 8 hunters at Cascade and 2 killed bulls.  We took a couple of big bulls but the biggest bulls were were missed.  All in all the hunters had great opportunities and that is our ultimate goal.

RIFLE ELK:  We hunt both Sheep Creek Ranch and Cascade Ranch.  The properties border each other but the topography is quite different.  Sheep Creek is much more physical than Cascade.  Hunters should be in good shape if they want to hunt Sheep Creek.  We were 5 out of 7 at Sheep Creek and 1 out of 4 at Cascade.  All elk taken were mature 6×6 bulls.

SPRING BEAR:  We are now booking spring black bear hunts at our Sheep Creek camp.  I give great discounts for groups of 3 or more.  Also give discounts for youth hunters.  Please call or e-mail for details.
