2010 archery bull taken by Fred Gill of Sandy Utah.  Cascade Ranch  353" P&Y.   2011 bull taken at the Cascade Ranch by Tim Markiel of Minooka, IL.  355" P&Y

WHAT'S HAPPENING;  I am currently booking spots that are still available.  These hunts include our popular elk/deer combination hunt at Cascade.  I also have a great rifle elk hunt for a group of (up to) four at the Sheep Creek Ranch.  Deer hunts at Cascade are still available for either whitetail or mule deer.   For prices, go to the left panel and click on Sheep Creek/Cascade Ranch, then click on the appropriate species.  Prices are at the bottom if you scroll down.

If you are interested in a mountain lion hunt, we can help right now.  We wait until the right conditions come (snow) and then we head out to Sheep Creek Ranch.  The hunter must be able to come on short notice (48 hours).  Licenses are available to residents and non-residents alike.  We hunt cats all winter until April.

New for 2013:  We are now offering a Drop Camp for elk/mule deer at our Sheep Creek Property.  This hunt is un-guided.  The camp is on the South Fork of Sheep Creek.  This is the toughest, most extreme country you will find, so it is not for everyone.  That said, there are some big bulls and a few big bucks in this area.  Hunters who are interested in this hunting opportunity need to be experienced hunters and woodsman.  The area is very remote also.  The country has not been hunted much at all in the last ten years or more.  The cost for this hunt is $2000 per hunter.  The price includes transportation to the camp.  The camp will be ready to go with all the amenities.  Hunters will need to bring just their personal gear and food, enough for the 6 day hunt.  If interested in this, please call or e-mail me and I will give you more information and send you some pictures of the country.

2012 Summary:  We just completed another very successful fall season.   Shot opportunities were high, especially for the archery elk hunters.  Seven of the nine archery elk hunters had shot opportunities.  One of our hunters missed a 28 yard shot at a giant bull that would have scored near 380 inches.  Tim Markiel hunted with us again and killed a beautiful 330-class seven point bull (see picture).

Our second season at Sheep Creek was good.  We did two guided rifle hunts there for elk.  We killed three bulls and three cows, the best bull being a 330" B&C.  We are managing this property for trophy bulls so we passed many young bulls and shot cows rather than kill young bulls.  This is a hunt designed for those who are prepared for a physical hunt.  The chance at a big bull here is good but you must hike.  Most all of the hunters saw big bulls but were unable to get within rifle range for a variety of reasons.

Wolves have not yet been seen in any of the areas I operate, this we are thankful for.  We will keep an eye out for these troublesome predators and a rifle on hand :)

Hunts Available for 2013:  I am sold out of rifle elk hunts.  I do have a good deer hunt available at Cascade where you have a reasonable chance at a bull. I have no spots available for private land archery elk hunts.  I still have a couple of spots open for a backcountry archery elk hunt.  Trophy mule deer hunts at West Butte are sold out but I have other mule deer options that are equally good.  Are you looking for a big whitetail buck?  We have them and hunts during the rut are still available.  I can take up to 4 people.  Groups of 4 that book are eligible for a significant discount.  Please call or e-mail for current availability and prices.  I have plenty of room for antelope.  The license deadline for non-resident deer and elk licenses is March 15th. Antelope license applications are due by June 1.

We operate our hunts in four separate locations; Cascade Ranch, West Butte Ranch, Sheep Creek Ranch and the Lewis & Clark National Forest (near East Glacier Park).  The Cascade Ranch near Cascade, Montana is a beautiful property located on the northern edge of the Big Belt Mountains.  I have leased the hunting rights here for 15 years.  It is a wildlife mecca.  There are good populations of  mule deer, whitetail, elk, bear, and antelope.  Bordering the Cascade Ranch is the Sheep Creek Ranch which I just aquired.  The West Butte Ranch is a large mountainous property that borders Alberta, Canada in western Montana.  We hunt elk during archery season with great success.  Rifle elk hunts are limited but available. The deer hunting is world class. Whether pursuing the massive mountain mulies or hunting the big prairie whitetails, the trophy potential is as good as it gets.  The hunting country between both ranches covers nearly 65,000 acres.

For the traditional horseback hunt high in the Rockies, The National Forest hunt is perfect.  These hunts are based at Rising Wolf Ranch (www.risingwolfranch.com) near East Glacier.  This area borders Glacier National Park, the continental divide, and the Blackfeet Indian Reservation.
